I'am going outside
17.01.2020 — 16.02.2020
At the exhibition, I would like to show mostly the latest pieces, which refer to nature. I search for inspiration spending time outside. Through abstract shapes, on canvas or paper I try to portray my very sensual experiences associated with being outside. Sometimes, the paintings are just a testament to some events. A memo, which shows current stories and exepriences. The painting, It’s hot today comments on the heat wave, that affected us, this summer. It a painterly symbol of a wet tshirt sticking to your back, a sweaty face, the colours shimmering in the harsh sun. I live in the city centre and for a while now I’ve been fantasizing about moving to a place closer to nature. The paintings Fantasies about Boryń display my imaginated desires and fears about living in the middle of a forest. Speaking of forests, Ditch day is a series of collages which I made, to communicate my feeling of sheer pleasure of being in a forest. When I’m outdoors, very often, I’m surrounded by a sense of piece, tranquillity. This emotions are embodied by a series of small images called Reverses. Foggy, colourful surfaces remind me of images of Mark Rothko. Reverses function in a group, they make a one big surface. I would like for my pieces to take the viewer, to a different dimension, as Rothko’s art does.
